Health Resort

Inowrocław boasts a more than 135-year-long tradition as a health resort, and is home to one of the two largest lowlands spa areas in Poland. The city is friendly to residents, tourists and patients in every respect. The local climate is mainly down to its health spa, with a beautiful, extended and refurbished park of nearly 85 hectares and Poland’s second largest brine graduation tower complex, the polygonal design of which also makes it the only one of its kind. The towers delight visitors with their fabulously colourful illumination, another unique feature not to be found anywhere else in Europe. There are enchanting flower carpets in the spa park and palm trees from spring to autumn, giving a subtle African hint to the area.

The Market Square in the city centre is embellished with an illuminated fountain whose warm coloured lights change to music.

Solanki Park

The 85-hectare spa park, informally known as “Solanki”, is one of the most recognisable places in Inowrocław. It hosts all the spa facilities, sanatoriums, the brine graduation towers, a thermal brine pool, a pump room with a palm house and leisure grounds. These include, for example, tennis courts, a ropes course, an outdoor gym for adults, a playground and a mini golf course. The Papal Gardens, drawing on the style of the original Vatican gardens, is a favourite place for walks. Another recommendable area is the new part of the Solanki – you can visit the garden of scents and colours, take a walk on alleys among new trees and bushes, or ride along bicycle lanes or tracks. When the weather is nice and sunny you can sunbathe on a beach at the pond or have a barbecue in a designated shelter.

In April 2013, Inowrocław acquired another interesting tourist attraction - a new pump room with a palm house was constructed in Solanki Park, right next to the Papal Gardens. It is a special place, designed with the recreation of whole families in mind. You can behold beautiful exotic plants, taste the local mineral waters or visit a reconstructed cottage characteristic of the Kujawy region.

Brine graduation towers
Inowrocław is situated on an enormous salt dome, which has had a great influence on the development of the city. The salt – lying at 4,500 m to approx. 6,000 m below the Inowrocław Plain – originated from the Zechstein Sea 210 million years ago. In 1875 the health spa was established in the city, and has been making use of the local natural resources (salt and brine) until this day.

City residents, tourists and health resort visitors can reap the benefits of the brine graduation tower complex, where salt brine is used for therapeutic purposes. Just a walk along the towers can be considered a form of treatment, and at the same time a pleasure, thanks to the beautiful greenery all around.

The brine graduation towers were opened to the public in 2001. The complex is a brine inhalation facility which attracts people with its therapeutic qualities and original design.

The principle of operation of the brine graduation towers is very simple: salt brine is pumped up to the highest level of the structure where from it flows freely down through blackthorn twigs, thus evaporating. As a result, the air around the towers is saturated with iodine and microelements produced by the flowing brine and the movement of air. The aerosol that forms this way is used to prevent and to enhance treatment of diseases of the upper respiratory tract, thyroid gland diseases, allergic skin disorders and reduces arterial blood pressure.

The brine graduation tower complex is the second largest in Poland, and one of just over a dozen such structures in Europe.

Inowrocław is a charming place. You will find lots of interesting architecture, churches and rest and recreation facilities, nicely supplemented by plentiful cultural events, including concerts, exhibitions and open-air events. But the city is also great for fans of active leisure. Everyone can something for them in the rich and attractive range of sports, tourist and entertainment activities on offer. Residents and visitors of all ages can try the ropes course, the 13-metre-high climbing wall, the Aqua Park or the outdoor gym, as well as visit beautiful monuments, a permanent exhibition of the salt industry invoking the atmosphere of the closed local salt mine, as well as a unique place in Poland – the Primate Józef Glemp Institute, with personal memorabilia donated to the city by the primate. The Institute houses the primate’s study, his published work, a display of his childhood, studies, ministry and journeys.

You can have a good time with your family or friends in our city at any time of the year, or day - Inowrocław is a perfect base and starting point for trips to other beauty spots in the region. Inowrocław is an exceptional place, friendly and safe.
